All you need to know...

Ms. Stem has been teaching at Hackettstown High School since 2005 and is currently the yearbook adviser and a Virtual High School instructor. She graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Secondary English and Communications Education and earned a minor in Gerontology.

On the home front, Ms. Stem recently got married and spent her honeymoon in Juneau, Alaska where she hiked to Mendenhall Glacier, took a sea plane ride to Taku Glacier (where she got to sit co-pilot), then spent a week sailing on a sailboat in the Inside Passage. She has three “children”--a daughter named Sandra, a Bearded Dragon named Apollo and an Alaskan Malamute named Aurora who can say her name on command. Additionally, when Ms. Stem is not working, she is an avid scrapbooker, skiier, reader, and writer who volunteers at her local rescue squad.

Grading:

A student’s grade is a reflection of how well he or she is able or use the information in testing, class discussions, projects and writings. Marking period grades will consist of points earned by completing assignments, group activities, and class participation.

These assignments will have a specific point value assigned to each one (homework 10, tests 100) and will be added together and divided by the total points possible to determine a student’s final grade.

Ms. Stem’s courses require a significant amount of reading, with discussions dependent on completing the reading;therefore, failure to complete the reading can and will produce negative effects on a student’s grade.
Ms. Stem does not accept late work or work written in any color ink besides blue or black.
