HACKETTSTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL

Mission Statement

Faculty, students, and parents of the Hackettstown Middle School are guided by the principles of knowledge, respect, diversity, cooperation, responsibility, and communication. As a learning community we are dedicated to attaining a mastery of basic skills and developing a broad background of knowledge in a variety of disciplines. We encourage and foster respect for property, ourselves, and others regardless of ethnic, racial, or socioeconomic differences, as we prepare our students for an ever changing world.

We obligate ourselves to identify and meet the diverse physical, social, and intellectual needs of all those who pass through our halls. We believe that a spirit of cooperation must characterize our relationships and classrooms and extend beyond to community involvement which we deem necessary to create the kind of atmosphere and experiences that will contribute to a successful school.

We promote individual responsibility for one's actions, decisions, and choices and the resulting consequences. We are aware that the Hackettstown Middle School is a place often characterized by a difficult transition from childhood to adolescence; therefore, we pledge to communicate and promote a fuller understanding of ourselves and each other through a commitment to the process of a thoughtful education.

MISSION STATEMENT and DISTRICT GOALS

The Hackettstown School District’s mission is to work as active and responsible partners with
parents and the community. The district’s goal is to create an environment which recognizes and
develops the full potential of each individual by helping students build character and respect
diversity while enabling them to access, create and utilize knowledge. It is the district’s hope that
each student will become a contributing member of society with a lifelong commitment to
learning. The mission of our schools can only be attained by forging partnerships with parents,
citizens, the business community, government leaders, civic groups and, most importantly, the
youth of Hackettstown.
The board of education, administration and staff are committed to creating an educational
environment where all children can develop to their fullest potential. The district assumes a major
role in fulfilling the educational, cultural and social needs of the community. Every effort is made
to nurture quality education and encourage excellence through performance.
