Language is the road map of

a culture. It tells you where

    its people come from
    and where they are going.
    ‒Rita Mae Brown
Globalization is driving the need for foreign languages. The United Nations declared in 2008 the need for implementing language education as part of the curriculum so that young people are prepared for the linguistic and cultural differences they will encounter in their future interactions as they venture out into the world. Not to mention how the process of acquiring a foreign language can help reinforce your child’s academic skills, organizational skills, learning techniques and of course listening/speaking/reading/writing skills.

For most people, Spanish is the easiest foreign language to learn because it uses the same alphabet as the English, with small exceptions. Most letters have only one sound, making it easy to “sound out” a word. In addition, approximately 50% of the words used in beginning Spanish are cognates; they look similar to the English word. Therefore, Spanish is widely offered in New Jersey schools.
