Service Organizations Hackettstown Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in the following activity that stresses Service to our school community.
The Hackettstown Middle School Student Council is comprised of students that are dedicated to serving their school. In September, students are invited to join the Student Council as homeroom representatives. These representatives communicate with the students in their homerooms to relay messages and poll students for opinions. All students are invited to be a part of this group . In June each year, 6th and 7th grade students are elected to become officers for the following year. These leaders will work to achieve common goals for the school throughout that year with feedback from the homeroom representatives. The officers have the privilege of meeting with the Superintendent for monthly meetings describing their initiatives for the year and their progress towards those initiatives.
The Student Council is involved in the following activities:
- Raising money for special school projects and purchases.
- Contributing to charitable organizations
- Generating enthusiasm and activities for "special school days"
- Sponsoring school dances
- Strengthening communication between students, homerooms, grade levels, teachers, and administration.
Our faculty advisors work to help the students reach their goals, by sponsoring regular meetings, and chaperoning all Student Council events. The goal is for these students to learn how to take a leadership role and apply it to all aspects of their life.
