School Social Workers
School Social Workers serve as vital members of the Child Study Team, dedicated to helping students overcome challenges and access the resources they need to succeed. Each School Social Worker holds at least a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is trained to understand how social, emotional, and family circumstances can affect a child’s learning and overall development.
Their work extends beyond the classroom, focusing on the whole child. Social Workers provide support during times of stress or crisis, assist families in connecting with community agencies, and help students develop the social–emotional skills needed to thrive in school and in life.
Collaboration is at the heart of their role. School Social Workers partner with teachers, administrators, and families to build positive learning environments, address barriers to success, and ensure that student voices are heard. They also contribute to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and design strategies that strengthen both academic achievement and emotional well-being.
Through advocacy, counseling, and community outreach, School Social Workers bridge the gap between home, school, and community. Their efforts promote resilience, equity, and opportunity, ensuring that every student is supported in reaching their highest potential.
